SAGINAW — The most recent data released by the state police shows Saginaw, Saginaw Township and Thomas Township had the highest number of drunk-driving crashes in Saginaw County.
The state Office of Highway Safety Planning said 103 such crashes occurred last year.
A $62,000 grant, administered by the Saginaw County Health Department and set to expire at the end of September, will address the problem within those communities.
“We’re looking at alcohol-related crashes this year, especially in the next few months,” said Bryant Wilke, interim director of substance abuse treatment services with the health department. “You’ll see a lot more outreach out of our department as well as our partners.”
